Back on the pitch of FIFA 15, the visuals have been tweaked rather than remastered, with the addition of improved weather effects which sees wet grass stained with footprints and the scars of a ruthless tackle leaving a wake of mud. The players, too, look as good in motion as they ever have before, and the annoying mandatory cinematics as they fumble for the ball on the sidelines has been omitted - although the keeper animations now take longer and you're still inexplicably forced to watch pointless cut-scenes sometimes when the ref Fifa 17 Coins is reaching in his pocket.
But it's worth noting that for all the bluster and the ever-growing ties with real football, FIFA is also beginning to lose its spirit as a video game. Yes, FIFA 15 is the most realistic model of virtual football to date. But for those who grew up with the glory days of lightning fast passes and 35 yard rockets into the top corner of the earlier FIFA or Pro Evolution Soccer iterations, FIFA is moving further and further away from your ideal.
This is a bit of a digression, but it bears mentioning that FIFA 15 doesn't feel like soccer, just as Madden doesn't feel like football and NBA 2K doesn't feel like basketball. Moreover, I don't know how to make FIFA 15 feel like playing actual soccer short of working a ball into QWOP's gameplay. That doesn't seem terribly fun or satisfying, but it's strange that it's so hard to imagine a game which simulates the actual playing of Fifa Coins the sport in a realistic way while it's so easy to imagine a game which satisfactorily simulates being a ninja.
